Brand Overhaul of Dynasty Digital

Laconic has dramatically changed the look of Dynasty Digital, which operates out of Medicine Hat, Alberta. Dynasty Digital is a sign and graphics company that owns two LED signs within The Gas City. DD's signs are located at Dunmore/Southview & Trans Canada Way/13 Ave. One overarching goal of this project was to allow Dynasty to differentiate themselves from the other digital signage companies that exist in this region. By picking an entirely different colour scheme and properly defined set of brand guidelines, we feel strongly that this is attainable. We are excited to see what kind of momentum this new look can generate. We were thrilled when another happy customer introduced us to Jay over at Dynasty Digital. It’s always rewarding when we get some freedom to come up with new ideas that maybe haven’t been tried before. Interested in advertising on their LED signs? Send Jay an email johno1@telusplanet.net or call Dynasty Digital at 403.866.6414.

Laconic has teamed up with the Medicine Hat Mavericks and has become an official sponsor of the franchise. Aztec drafts Laconic as web consultant

Laconic worked with Aztec Masonry and Landscaping in early 2009. The project involved creating a great brand that would seperate Aztec from their competition in Lethbridge, Alberta. We were extremely happy with the result and definitely felt it would serve as a great launchpad for any external advertising done by the company. We approached Aztec towards the end of the summer about creating an online presence that would go hand-in-hand with their new brand. The result is www.aztecmasonry.ca which features some videos of their work, photo galleries, great testimonials and a detailed/fully functional quote request form. What could be better? We sincerely hope that Aztec is able to take their business, client base and service offerings to the next level in 2010 with the brand and website we have developed. If you're in the greater Lethbridge area we strongly reccommend checking out their services whether it's a new deck, fenced backyard or high profile masonry project to make your neighbours jealous.

Blending a foundation of acoustic guitar similar to Dashboard with electric guitar and synth similar to that of Angels & Airwaves. Quarantine Restraints Ltd. Hires Laconic

Quarantine provides some of the best industrial grade restraint systems on the market and all products manufactured by Quarantine Restraints Ltd. are of the highest quality to conform to all current legislation and regulations. Quarantine Restraints Ltd. will develop its products to meet and exceed all current transportation requirements and is committed to provide products to meet such regulations as those specified for Alberta Transportation 2010. "Quarantine sets the standard in high end Engineer Rated pick-up cargo restraints." As cargo securement nets become the topic of discussion in today's safety-conscious society, tougher cargo securement regulations are already being considered. In many provinces and states throughout North America, police are handing out hefty fines for improper load securement. For instance, by the year 2010 in the province of Alberta, an operator of a pick up truck will be not only responsible for cargo securement, but be required to use an approved cargo restraint net that has a working load limit indicated on the product. Quarantine Restraints Ltd. aims to maintain the highest cargo securement standards in all its products and be a leader in the area of vehicle regulations as they pertain to cargo safety and securing cargo. Laconic knows that the staff at Quarantine are well on their way to making their products more accessible across North America and a strong marketing partnership will only make this vision a definite reality.

2010 Southern Alberta Summer Games

Laconic has been awarded the priviledge of designing the logo and brand for the 2010 Southern Alberta Summer Games. We are looking forward to tackling this challenge and understand the responsibility we have in designing an official logo for this great event for athletes of all ages. There is the distinct possibility also that this logo will be turned into a dynamic statue which can be a working torch that will be lit for the games in July 2010. The County of Newell and City of Brooks are the proud hosts for the 2010 Southern Alberta Summer Games. They are extremely excited to have the opportunity to host the 2010 Games. The City of Brooks is inviting everyone from Southern Alberta to come and participate in these games and help celebrate The City of Brooks centennial year. The Games will be held July 7th - 10th, 2010. For those who follow the games closely, the Crowsnest Pass hosted a great 40th anniversary celebration for the 2009 Southern Alberta Summer Games. The games have a storied legacy and Laconic hopes to build upon that.

The Wood Buffalo HIV/AIDS Society aims to promote public awareness and understanding of HIV/AIDS without prejudice; thus encouraging and involving the community in prevention strategies and supporting people infected and/or affected by HIV/AIDS. They are located in Fort McMurray and do incredible outreach work. In fact it is this outreach and promotion that they are officially unveiling a new branch of the organization called the Fort McMurray Health Promotions Centre. Laconic is extremely pleased with the WBHAS and plan on developing a strong relationship and work on some exciting projects in the near future besides developing a brand new website which will be launched in Q3 of 2009. The Wood Buffalo HIV & AIDS Society is volunteer driven and relies on the contributions of volunteers. Their Board of Directors consists of local volunteers who assist in program delivery, special events and fundraising. Individuals from all walks of life are welcome to participate in our volunteer program, if you are in the Fort McMurray area and would like to volunteer, feel free to visit their current website. I'm sure they would be appreciative.

FMWSA Calls Laconic Onto the Field

We love working with sports organizations, both because of the excellent leaders we get to communicate with and the constant desire for outstanding results. When we were approached by the Fort McMurray Women's Soccer Association we gladly listened. They suffered from the classic problem of having absolutely no web identity and poor branding. Laconic knew immediately that while this project would have some roadblocks, it was nothing we couldn't handle. We responded to calls for a streamlined registration system and website that was slimmed down over other soccer association websites. We feel that we've given the FMWSA a great product at extremely great value. We've overhauled their old logo by giving them something modern and reflective of the direction they are travelling in. The website we built allows users to register and pay online, while at the same time download schedules, view up to date standings and stay up to date on happenings within the association. While there are sports packaged website software sold by numerous companies, we feel our custom work goes above and beyond! Check out their site: www.fmwsa.ca

Seeing as driving does require you to have your full concentration on the road ahead. It is very essential that your mind does not wander anywhere else. Good thing that Parrot and BlueAnt both have become a specialist in Bluetooth hands-free technology, both companies have product lines sold by DB Connections.

When Engaging Minds for Learning contacted us, we were glad to help because we saw it as an opportunity to really step their brand to an elite level.

City of Medicine Hat Area Plan Maps

Laconic was thrilled in October, 2008, when we were contacted to design several maps for the City of Medicine Hat's Draft Flats Area Redevelopment Plan. This was an expansive project and dealt with a number of different concepts for a community that will be dramatically shaped and changed over the next 20 years. Planning Building and Development Services has stated that in the next two decades, the Flats community (which is adjacent to downtown Medicine Hat) could accomodate up to 3,500 new residents by sensitively-integrating new residential, commercial, office, tourism/educational-related and civic uses.   "This is the basis for future redevelopment of an already historically unique community into a livable and thriving community for it's residents, workers and tourists."   The Draft Flats Area Redevelopment Plan presents a comprehensive vision for the future development of the Flats community and the maps Laconic created will serve as a blueprint. We are proud of these accomplishments and were happy to give back to the City of Medicine Hat.

Partek IT Solutions Grabs New Aesthetic

Unveiling Goodsoil Credit Union’s Brand

Goodsoil Credit Union's new look represents different components and brings together the true elements of Saskatchewan and Goodsoil. The logo is composed of bronze and a deep forest green. The colouring of bronze represents commerce and energy and the dark green represents the true nature of Goodsoil, power and integrity. The deep green represents prosperity and growth. This branding strategy was developed by Laconic to bring some modernity to the Goodsoil Credit Union’s publications and overall look. Goodsoil Credit Union is seen as a fulcrum organization where integrity and knowledge of today’s modern business practices thrive, thus a new modern look was a logical goal. Laconic felt that a professional yet simple and robust look was appropriate. "Goodsoil Credit Union has also awarded Laconic the priviledge of designing their new website." Soon visitors will be able to see the brand new Goodsoil Credit Union website. GCU's new look reflects a new direction for the  organization and the new Goodsoil Credit Union website will be accessible to people from the area via low-bandwidth and fast internet connections, and at the same time be adapted/user friendly for internet browser’s such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari. Laconic believes that the new site will give Goodsoil Credit Union the power to dramatically upgrade our online operations. Stay tuned.

Laconic Develops New Brand for BDCC

BDCC's new look represents different components and brings together the true elements of Brooks and the County of Newell. We at Laconic are extremely proud of this logo. The fountain in the foreground is symbolic of the water wealth in the area as well represents the fountain in Lake Stafford adjacent to the Trans Canada Highway which acts as a significant gateway/landmark to Brooks. The fountain can also be interpreted as a wheat sheath or prairie grass signifying a strong agricultural sector. The last component of the logo is the yellow trapezium which represents the large area of the BDCC, the colour yellow represents wealth, fortune and energy and the dark blue represents knowledge, power and integrity. "Laconic Design's aim was to bring some modernity to the BDCC’s publications and overall look." This new logo and branding strategy was created by Laconic Design, based out of Medicine Hat, Alberta under the supervision of Tracy Acorn, Manager of the Brooks & District Chamber of Commerce. It was noted that while there was a definitive logo being used, publications created by the BDCC did not have a cohesive look, and producing a new logo/brand would be productive. Once a new logo was decided upon, the same look could be refined for all of the BDCC’s publications and resources used daily. The BDCC is seen as a fulcrum organization where integrity and knowledge of today’s modern business practices thrive, thus a new modern look is a logical goal. Laconic Design felt that a professional, simple and robust look was fitting. Today’s professional organizations are seeking new, vibrant looks not only as a re-inventing of their organization, but as a chance to get some new attention from constituents. The representation of water, the fountain, yellow and blue allows the BDCC to have a more simplistic yet powerful look.

  • “Working with the team at Laconic has been as easy as working with someone in the next office to me. They are always there for any thought or input I might have in the project they are working on for/with me.”
by Ben Crowe, Quarantine Restraints Ltd.
